The Red Box is a popular native known for its ability to survive through continuous drought seasons in dry soil. The Red Box is a wide spreading Eucalypt, found natively throughout the tablelands of New South Wales, and down to Southern Victoria. Its foliage is of a bluey-grey colour, and round shaped, and produces small white flowers in September through to January. The Red Box creates a beautiful oval shaped canopy, making it not only perfect as a shade tree, but is also very aesthetically pleasing, as a feature, in any landscape. It requires very little maintenance, is drought, frost, and wind tolerant, and will thrive in most well drained soil conditions.
This tree is predominantly used in streetscapes, parks, and gardens, and thrives in well drained soil.
