The River Peppermint is a medium tree with dark green foliage and a rough bark on the lower trunk, turning into a beautiful smooth trunk. It grows naturally along southern coastal ranges of New South Wales, and Northern Victoria. It will grow in most soil type, as long as some water is available, but will thrive in wet ground. It produces a beautiful creamy-white flower during the spring, and extending into the summer time. The River Peppermint is salt and frost tolerant. The foliage, when crushed, emits an aromatic peppermint scent; filling your growing space with flavour.
This tree is predominantly used in streetscapes, parks, and gardens. It thrives in wet soil conditions, but will grow in most well drained soils also.
