The Dropping Sheoak is predominantly found throughout Victoria, as well as southern NSW and parts of Tasmania. Its is most commonly known as a coastal variety, as it is very tolerant of sandy soil, salt spray, and high heat, however it flourishes in many soil types and conditions. It flowers during the winter, developing small cones. It is a difficulty tree to grow in containers, most of which look quite miserable and sparce, however this will change once established and with age they will grow a nice round head.
This tree is predominantly used in parks and gardens, and thrives in most soil conditions. It is extremely heat tolerant, and requires very little irrigation once established.
