The Pyrus Usserensis, or Manchurian Pear, is a deciduous tree with a lovely round, glossy, dark green leaf. While ornamental trees are becoming more and more popular in recent years, the Manchurian Pear is not being left behind. While a little more wider spreading than some other deciduous trees, they can be used to create a unique and wonderful screen. In youth they tend to be more of a pyramid shape, in maturity they grow into a wonderfully dense tree that will keep a rounded shape. Amongst the first ornamental pears to flower in the spring, producing a beautiful white flower from a pale pink bud.
This tree is predominately used for parks and gardens, screening, and streetscapes with its glorious colours year round. Typically performing well in most soil conditions, they do prefer full sun with well drained areas.
