River Red Gum
The River Red Gum is a tall shade tree with dark green foliage and a dark brownish-grey trunk. It grows naturally along waterways, river gullies and flood plains. It will grow in any soil type, as long as some water is available, but will thrive in wet ground. It produces a beautiful creamy-white flower in the summer time. The River Red Gum is also salt tolerant, and a very hardy tree, which will grow quickly to suit its environment.
This tree is predominantly used in reserves, parks and gardens, and anywhere without height restrictions. It thrives in wet soil conditions, but will grow in most well drained soils also.
